Perfomance The PP-XYS will have the reliable and powerful Textron Lycoming 180 hp IO-360 B engine, turning a 74" Hartzell constant speed propeller. With this setup, the estimated performance by the manufacturer is the following one: MAXIMUM SPEED (SEA LEVEL).................................................... 190 kt/ 354Km/h CRUISE SPEED (75 % @ 8000 ft).................................................182 kt/338 Km/h (TAS) RANGE @ 75% .............................................................................1260 nm /2334 km RATE OF CLIMB.............................................................................1800 fpm SERVICE CEILING..........................................................................20,000' STALL SPEED (no flap)...................................................................54 kt/100 km/h (IAS) STALL SPEED (full flap)..................................................................50 kt/92 km/h (IAS) TAKE OFF DISTANCE..........................................................................475 ft / 144 m LANDING DISTANCE...........................................................................680 ft / 208 m ROLL RATE....................................................................................... 190º / Sec
This performance is clearly visible in the 1998 results of Sun 100 Race , hosted annually in Lakeland, Flórida, where Larry Kinder averaged 235 mph (378 km/h) in a 100 statute miles triangle course. It´s important to stand out that Larry´s Mustang II didn´t have any aerodynamic nor engine modification. Here are the results :
